I used to believe in it. But the concept of an unseen force driving me to make choices, or even the concept that I will make those choice no matter what, doesnt agree with me. I think we each have a purpose, and it is up to us to fulfill it, or not. We dont *have* to fulfill it, many dont, but we each have a place and... a task to accomplish. There may be a path to guide you to that task, but it is not set in stone, we choose whether to join it or leave it. Thoughts?

i think whatever you do, you choose to do it, and join it. Its just matter of choices.

I think the things we do on this material platform are very very insignificant.
Although, there is a Divine Plan, but I don't feel the minute independence we have here affects or compromises the Grand Scheme of things. I think, imagining the big picture, that this world is like a big hamster wheel. We think we are making a difference and that there cannot possibly be a Divine Plan, but we are really doing nothing when measured in the scope of eternity.
If and when we do rise to commiting our actions on the transcendental spirtual level, then is when we are working for God's Divine Plan. But, on any material level, we are simply running on a hamster wheel. That hamster wheel turns, and that is The Plan. All the minute changes and events here are results of our karmic actions based on the "laws" of this hamster wheel set up by God. He knows where all these things are leading, even though we do portray a small level of independence and control.

Good explanation Vaisnava, that does make sense... We have a small amount of choice, but the "grand plan" is predestined? Interesting...

Well...now it is...I think if you start thinking that way, then it will manifest as truth for you. Afterall its just a difference of perspectives. My perspective is free will or not, true path does not lie within either destiny or free will, but rather in not falling from the true path. Which consists of breathing in and breathing out in mindfullness of the moment, and not being corrupted by your own mind...that way I believe I can remain on the path. Call it free will, or destiny if you will but I'm simply drinking when I'm thirsty and seeing when I'm seeing. peace

... I like to think that everything has been decided before and nothing can be changed... it gives me no hope and therefore no fear to lose the hope.
It doesn't mean that I take all as granted, I fight when I disagree and defend my thoughts and point of view, still I don't know what will happen.
There is destiny and no one can escape it. I take my future as my destiny: it depends on my choice and me...
Everyone finds his/her way.
Destiny is made, or it isn't... up to ev eryone to decide...
My choice: everything has been decided before and my destiny to be myself and not to submit to anyone or anything, to follow the way I have chosen...

How does anyone have free will if they're controlling it, you mean? (Or something like that...) Heh, I never know everything my mind is doing.... (subconsious, etc...)

How is it free will if its under someone elses control?? Why is it hard to understand both being true? Consider that God knows everything we will do. But, He does not move us around like chess pieces. He allows us to make the choices He is already *aware* we will make. We still make the choices. Also consider what I said in my first post here. These material events are very insignificant. We can help to sustain or to destroy the places we live and it would make no difference in the grand scheme of things. Our independence and control is very minute. Although we have it on a relative level, there is Absolute Plan. Free will and Supreme Control co-exist.
