Ok why dont I try and get some talk going here... What *does* everyone think of anarchy?
The complete lack of a governing body, people rule themselves... An idealistic fantasy causing chaos in the real world? Or an alternative to the back-stabbing greed of capitalism?
Im in favour of it obviously, I loathe control...
V
an ideal devoutly to be wished
and by no means unachievable
poorly and often misunderstood
as well as the reasons we don't see it more often
as a default condition
i, well let us say, distrust, control, more so then as such
loath it. especialy control that is not itself up to its
own standards of responsibility, as indeed happens far too often.
so what then of an-archy
which, to be taken literaly as i prefer,
would be the
complete abscence
of ANYone dictating the perceptions, priorities or policies
of anyone else ever.
the central issue is as it turns out after all the little
matter of self control and self dicipline
by that i mean it taks a good bit of this
to avoid inadvertantly imposing governance on anyone else
the kind of lawlessness the word has been prejudiciously
and inaccuratly tared with is in fact of course the very
opposite of the complete abscence of any sort of 'archy'
since one person or group unduely influencing another is
after all what that amounts to
there is of course also the matter of common defense against
those who lack the will and or ability to so restrain themselves
as to alow true an archy to exist
now i aggree whole heartedly that there is no inhierent need
for standing governments to exist
rather that they come into being, are sucked into being you
could say actualy, by that imprefection of self dicipline
against wanting on the part of some to control or at least
intimidate the lives of others
over the centuries a kind of not always adiquitely strong
sort of bridal has been invented to attempt to harness this
tendency to the cart of human and environmental well being
and this harness contraption is called a constitution
like a wild beast that is never happy with the harness of
domestication, the 'alpha' personalities that see themselves
as having some sort of 'devine right' to impose their will
on others keep devising, with varying degrees of success,
to find ways of slipping out of this harness, and thus
dictatorships are born.
we have a terrible and unfortunate example of this going on
in the u.s. currently with the 'baby bush' regeme, having
further refined the means used by the ragun and papa bush
regemes before it for doing much the same thing
while the harness held in those previous cases there is far
less certainty that it will in the current. if anything
the 'fix' seems to 'in' and the country in the hands of a
sort of economic dictatorship.
i say seems, because there isn't really enough hard evidence
one way or another that leaks down to where most of us are
to be realy certain, for that matter of much of anything
well you see the problem, and i don't have a solution, is
the common need, if we wish anything resembling civilization
to exist, for some means to restrain those who for whatever
reason prove unwilling or unable, to restrain themselves.
there are several things that can happen
one or two that inevitably will
though the consiquences of those though catigorizable
are far from linearly deterministic as to which will occur
well i've rambled in several directions and still haven't
wrapped things up so i'll go on from here next time
(rest assured a SUSTAINABLE anarchy CAN be achieved
possibly in several ways, some more and some less
desirable then others)
