occult help needed

I am a beginner; I have resources but feel as though I am not getting anywhere. I am looking for an experienced occult practicioner, preferably one who can say that they have had success that couldn't be coincidence. I think my problem is with the fact that things are less defined, leaving me unsure of what to do. Any help, ideas, links, information, etc. is greatly appreciated.

a mentor would be nice. I don't really know what all the different types you mentioned are but i was using the academy of sorcery's stuff, especially part III of their black magic guide, where they get into the basic energy exercises. I guess i am looking to get involved with a little of everything, white, black, elemental, summonings, the works
